About this breeding
- Embark’s Pair Predictor tool puts this litter at DNA 18% COI
- A 35% COI European line dog can pair with a 35% COI American line dog and the offspring’s COI can drop to 10-20%
- Full American show and full European show dogs COI are each commonly 25-45%
- American Hunting dogs are commonly 10-25% COI
- Learn more about Golden Retriever’s inbreeding from trusted DNA coding vs pedigree false belief. DNA COI vs Pedigree COI
- Embark DNA shows the genetic inbreeding COI of all dogs they test. Breeders can run a Pair Predictor and see actual forecast of puppy COI. This tool is revolutionary for breeders. See what we learned from Embark DNA about our own dog’s inbreeding.
This litter blends a show line Golden Retriever dad with a hunting line Golden Retriever mom, combining functional structure, stable bold temperament, and working ability.
The puppies will be a medium shade of golden, just like the parents. They should have a balanced build between moderate like mom and chunky like dad. Coats can be moderate like Nala to heavy and long, more like dad. Boys traditionally carry more coat than girls.
Temperament should be well rounded. Gryffin is stable, agreeable, social, goofy, loves to fetch, funny and easy to live with. Nala is brilliant, biddable, people-focused worker, and naturally driven to fetch and hunt. Expect their puppies to be obsessed with fetch, stay close to their family, and aim to please.
This litter can produce dogs suitable for:
- Hunting and retrieving
- Obedience and agility
- Therapy or service work
- Active family homes
- Dogs for people who enjoy training dogs for upper level thinking
They should handle Texas heat better than a heavy-coated show line, though not necessarily with the same endurance as a pure hunting line.
Overall: balanced structure, heavier coat, strong trainability, stable temperament, and versatile ability.
Size: the puppies will be on the large side for a Golden, boys at 80-95 lbs and girls at 65-80 lbs
