Embark COI vs Wisdom Panel Heterozygosity
We documented dogs of multiple breeds to show the relationship between Embark’s COI and Wisdom Panel’s Heterozygosity DNA tested genetic diversity. This is to educate the public and especially breeders what each platform offers and how it relates to each other. Science offers breeders and pet owners the ability to know actual inbreeding of their dog through state of the art DNA testing. In addition, breeders can use each platform’s Pair Predictor to analyze if a potential pairing will increase or decrease inbreeding of a future litter. This technology takes the guesswork out of wondering if two parents are a good match when it comes to genetic diversity.
In this info picture we document a side-by-side list of Embark COI results of dogs with their Wisdom Panel Heterozygosity scores. The lowest score is a mixed breed dog with DNA tested COI of 1% and Heterozygosity of 45%. This dog is a genetically diverse as one can possibly be. On the other side of this chart we show a highly inbred Collie who is 55% COI on Embark and 21% Heterozygous at Wisdom Panel.
The lower the COI score, the lower the inbreeding
The higher the Heterozygosity score, the lower the inbreeding
